Ms. Maryam Majid Al Saad, Secretary General of the Global Public Diplomacy Network (GPDNet), participated with the presentation on the “GPDNet Perspectives and Achievements in Public Diplomacy”, highlighting the 10 year anniversary of the organization’s stive of shaping public diplomacy through culture, and how it continues making a global impact.
Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria, 23.10.2024 was marked by the international conference on “Cultural diplomacy and the Balkans – achievements and challenges in the modern era”.
Ms. Maryam Majid Al Saad, Secretary General of the Global Public Diplomacy Network (GPDNet), participated with the presentation on the “GPDNet Perspectives and Achievements in Public Diplomacy”, highlighting the 10 year anniversary of the organization’s stive of shaping public diplomacy through culture, and how it continues making a global impact.
“Diplomacy has always been a necessity in the conduct of international relations. More specifically, countries and societies have always had a desire to keep in touch with each other, and diplomacy presented a platform on which such interactions can take place”, noted Ms. Maryam Majid Al Saad.
The conference gathered participants from four continents, among whom were representatives of international organizations, the academic sector, the cultural sector and private initiatives.
Among the speakers of the conference was the Acting Minister of Culture, Nayden Todorov. He pointed out that “Culture is to accept the different, to be able to work, live and move forward together with them. When we can do this, then diplomacy will always be successful”, noted Minister Todorov.
The organizers of the forum are the Institute of Balkan Studies with the Center for Tracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) with the support of the Ministry of Culture and in institutional partnership with the State Cultural Institute of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria and the National Gallery.
