The Global Public Diplomacy Network, headed by the Cultural Village Foundation (Katara), concluded the promotional campaign for Qatar’s public diplomacy in Latin America, which was launched with the participation of a group of distinguished ambassadors, diplomats, media people, sports and art stars in Latin American countries, in addition to the participation of major press organizations, media and television channels.
In this context, HE Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to Qatar Oscar Leon Gonzalez expressed in a statement last night his happiness with the promotion campaign of Qatari public diplomacy led by the center in Cuba and Latin American countries, stressing that it contributed to upgrading the historical bilateral relations between the two friendly countries, in addition to its role in consolidating close cooperation in various fields, pointing out that Qatar and Cuba share the same principles in achieving peace and respect for international law.
The Cuban ambassador recalled the historical positions linking the State of Qatar and the Republic of Cuba, confirming the appreciation of the Cuban people for these positions and the high-level mutual visits that contributed to strengthening cooperation relations between Qatar and Cuba in all fields.
His Excellency praised the pivotal role played by the State of Qatar in finding solutions to disputes and conflicts, the efforts it has exerted to limit the spread of the coronavirus (covid-19) pandemic internationally, and Doha’s contribution in supporting the efforts of a number of countries in this field, foremost of which was to assist the Republic of Cuba in providing medical supplies and preventive equipment to alleviate the impact of the virus. In addition, the Cuban ambassador shed light on the distinguished health cooperation between Qatar and Cuba, which has been particularly strengthened during the past two years of the coronavirus pandemic.
“We will support the Katara Center’s initiative in its promotional campaign for Qatari public diplomacy in Cuba and Latin America,” he added, praising its exceptional role at the global level in promoting friendly relations and communication between communities, pointing out that the campaign has received far-reaching positive reactions in the Cuban media, such as Cuban television and the Cuban press, in addition to the warm welcome of the Cuban people to this initiative.
He praised the active role of the initiative in strengthening relations in Latin America, supporting it in international dialogue and its impact on tourism in Cuba, stressing that public diplomacy is a very important tool for communication between peoples, their meeting, harmony and familiarization with each other’s culture.
“We appreciate the efforts of Katara and the Global Public Diplomacy Network in consolidating relations between the Cuban and Qatari peoples, and I believe that their efforts are fruitful in introducing the Cuban people to Qatar and its culture, especially with the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 just around the corner, “he added.
The promotional campaign for Qatari public diplomacy, launched by the Global Public Diplomacy Network in Cuba and Latin American countries, includes broadcasting programs about the comprehensive renaissance witnessed by the State of Qatar and the accomplishments it has achieved in various fields, and the historical and distinguished bilateral relations that link Doha with those countries, in addition to broadcasting specialized films that talk about the initiatives launched by the network, its role in strengthening bilateral relations between member states, establishing bridges of communication between peoples and societies in the world, in addition to its role in consolidating Qatar’s position as an attractive and leading tourist, cultural and sports destination, as well as the campaign promotional state-led preparations in its hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.(QNA)
