UBUMUNTU ARTS ORGANIZATION

The Ubumuntu Arts Organization was created in 2016 to work as an umbrella organization following successful consecutive years of the Ubumuntu Arts Festival.

A Legacy driven project, under the AlI program (Africa leadership initiative ) an affiliate of AGLN ( Aspen global leadership Network) pushing fellows to Shift from Success to Significance.

VISION & MISSION

Ubumuntu Arts Organization’s mission is to support national and international peacebuilding processes by spreading messages of hope through theatre, various forms of performing arts and creating a platform for dialogue regarding issues affecting humanity.

  2. 10 International collaborations ( Rwanda, Sri Lanka, USA, UK, Morocco, Jordan, Mexico, Kenya, Uganda, Bosnia, Germany , Japan & Iraq
  3. Three Awards of recognition McNulty prize, CEO global regional and Continental . Project Batete.

PRESIDENT PROFILE

Hope Azeda is one of the leading figures in contemporary Rwandan theatre. She is the founder, artistic director of Mashirika Performing Arts and media company, a leading theatre company in Rwanda. Under her direction, the group collaboratively created Africa’s hope, which was performed in Kigali at the 10th anniversary commemoration of the genocide, and also at the G8 World Summit in Edinburgh in 2005.The play also toured in the UK in 2006 and 2008 and also featured in the biennial festival in Sweden in 2008 ,In 2012 Africa’s hope made it’s premier in Los Angeles USA.
