The eighth General Assembly of the Global Public Diplomacy Network (GPDNet) concluded in Doha atKatara Cultural Village, bringing significant developments and milestones. With representatives from 22countries, the two-day meeting was chaired by Qatar, represented by the Cultural Village Foundation.
During the opening speech, Dr. Khalid Al Sulaiti, General Manager of Katara Cultural Village, highlightedthe crucial role of public diplomacy in fostering communication, understanding, and relationships betweennations. The assembly discussions aimed to develop relations, enhance cooperation, and createopportunities for joint action.
Eng. Darwish Ahmed Al Shaibani, the Secretary-General of the Global Public Diplomacy Networkexpressed appreciation for member states’ efforts in expanding cooperation and work mechanisms,emphasizing their positive impact in achieving mutual benefits.
The assembly welcomed two new members, Malta and the Republic of Moldova, expanding the network to29 countries, therefore strengthening the network’s reach. Consequently, the General Divistion for PressCommunication & Information
was officially accredited as Cuba’s representative within the GPDNet.
The GPDNet launched its bilingual website, available in Arabic and English, promoting cultural exchange,communication, and capacity building. Looking ahead, the GPDNet plans to expand the website’slanguages, adding five more based on member states’ willingness to participate. This expansion aims toenhance communication, collaboration, and promote a diverse and inclusive approach to public diplomacy.
