Cuba first destination of Public Diplomacy of Qatar in Latin America

The choice of Cuba as the first destination of Qatar’s public diplomacy in Latin America rise above today as an indication of the good relations between the island and that Arab country. According to the Qatar Tribune, Cuba hosts until July 29 the promotional campaign in that matter with events and artistic activities, sports and others. Cubans will also learn about the legacy to humanity of that Arab country, said the media outlet. In addition, the television channels will broadcast programs on the comprehensive rebirth and achievements of Qatar and the historical links between Doha and Havana. The media will also highlight the preparations for the FIFA World Cup that will take place in the Arab country from November to December, and the initiatives of the Global Network of Public Diplomacy in strengthening ties between member states. The campaign is headed by the general secretary of the Global Public Diplomatic Network, Darwish Ahmed Al Shaibani, with the participation of the Qatari ambassador in Cuba, Jamal Nasser Al Bader, and the island’s diplomatic representative in Doha, Oscar León González. As coordinators of the initiative in the Caribbean nation, diplomats Juan Antonio Fernández, Eumelio Caballero and José Ramón Cabañas participate, in addition to a wide range of specialists who operate in the fields of diplomacy, media outlets, sports and arts.
